C.A.K.E TALK Young

“C.A.K.E. TALK” is a major highlight of the 16th China International Cartoon & Animation Festival Summit Forum series, and is also a featured brand we newly launched in 2017, for which we take the initialism of four words "Creative, Animation, Knowledge, Exchange" as "C.A.K.E". The 16th CICAF "C.A.K.E. TALK" will be held for 3 days (September 28--30), at The First World Hotel Hangzhou and White Horse Lake Jianguo Hotel. It contains sub-forms like “Master”, “Yong”, “Panel” and “Live”, with different perspective of discussion. It is also an exhibition of innovative ideas collisions among professionals with contents around animated films, series, games, cartoon, derivatives, academy, painting, design, publication, marketing and other new topics of pan-entertainment industry. Let’s see how to explore the ACG industry more under the post pandemic period.

We hope to build a cross-border communication platform for all the participants of pan-entertainment industries. Via annual regular activities, "C.A.K.E TALK” will bring together professionals willing to share experience, to break discipline barriers, to introduce achievements, to open up public vision, and to create a real atmosphere of communication.

Rachel XIN
Character Designer at Pixar Animation Studios and Independent Film Maker

Rachel Xin graduated from Beijing Film Academy and USC Film School with a master degree. She is known by her independent animated film Molly and Flowers, and Nini. She joined Pixar Animation Studios in 2018, and did character design for onward, and Soul, and other projects has not been released yet.


Lizzie ZHANG
Director of the 91st Oscar Qualify Animated Short Film Wishing Box, ASIFA-Hollywood Member, USA Visual Effects Society Member, Hong Kong Film Art Association Committee Member, Animated Film Screenwriter

Lizzie Zhang came to San Francisco Academy of Art University for a master's degree in animation and visual effects in 2011. In 2017, she completed her fourth animated short film Wishing Box and won many awards on the international stage. Wishing Box has won the 91st Oscar Qualify animated short film in 2019 and was released as an Oscar highly recommended short film in 600 theaters across the United States. In 2019, Wishing Box had won the Gold Award for San Diego-Comic Con, the largest comic exhibition in the United States. It was also broadcasted on Alaska Airlines and Virgin Airlines routes in the United States in March of the same year. Wishing Box has won 13 gold awards in worldwide film festivals and has been screened in more than 70 international film festivals including Toronto International Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, and other film festivals. Prior to this, her animated short film Steal the Bell was broadcast on Beijing Kaku Animation Channel. The animated short film Rudolph was shortlisted in the Beijing Film Academy Awards.

XU Ning

XU started to create stop motion animation from 2008, his personal work The Balcony got short-listed for Montreal Stop Motion Festival, Cry of Fox was received various awards including the Best Animated Short Film of Los Angeles Independent Film Festival,the Best Animation of Adobe Design Achievement Awards. Works: Anomalisa, Kubo and the Two Strings, Missing Link, etc. These works were received four Oscar nominations and one Golden Globe Awards.


XIAO Chen

Main research direction is animation, picture book and cartoon creation. He is also a college teacher obtaining lots of awards: Golden Award of the Yellow River Award for public service advertising in China International Advertising Festival, Golden Award of Jiangsu Zijin Cultural and Creative Contest, Zhenjiang Literature and Art Award, etc.


GUO Tianyi
Guest Professor at Beijing Film Academy, Member of ASIFA(International Animated Film Association),  Member of Interactive Film Studio in Beijing Film Academy, Distinguished Research Fellow at Beijing Institute of Architectural Design

Guo graduated from California College of the Arts, with a bachelor's degree in comics from Beijing Film Academy. After returning from United States, she focused on interactive comics, picture books, comic creation, and character design. She was representative of Chinese speakers at the Kyoto International comics conference of the Japanese Ministry of culture in 2019. Her works such as the Journey of Picture Books, Time in the Bottle, the Blue Balloon and Back to the Red Cliff have won many awards at abroad, and she has held an exhibition in San Francisco, USA.


Roy LUO
Curator, Founder of Art Talk Show, Cross-cultural Researcher, Distinguished Research Fellow at LIU Haisu Art Museum

While as a curator of China Art Museum, LUO was in charge of a series of international exhibitions and now gradually shifts his focus to art promotion and cross-cultural studies. LUO is currently a regular guest speaker of major theatres and museums, revealing the charm of art to the audience through more than 600 Art Talk Shows. Animation Topic Shows (video works): Wonderful Anime Art History, When Hayao Miyazaki meets Ukiyo-e, Our Anime Memories, etc.
