Triennial “National Animation Government Award” unveiled, Hangzhou hits new record in winning animation awards

On February 24, the Ministry of Culture announced at its official website the results of the third animation award, the Chinese government award for culture and art. 

The animation award is a national government award established by the Ministry of Culture to flourish the creation of animation works, foster outstanding talents of animation, expand the international influence of Chinese animation, and promote the development of the animation industry. The evaluation takes place every three years. The animation award consists of six sub-items, totaling 20 prizes. They are 11 Best Animation Works, three Best Anime Creators or Teams, two Best Animation Education Institutions, one Best Explorer of Animation International Market, one best Animation Technology, and two Best Animation Images. 

The Ministry of Culture grants award-winning certificates and bonuses to the animation award winning works, creators or teams, and units. The funds for the animation awards are guaranteed by the Ministry of Culture with special funds from the state finance. They are included in budget management. In the third animation award results, Hangzhou Zubao Animation, China Academy of Art and the animation Rainbow Chicks from Hangzhou were selected. Among other award-winning works, Liu Zhijiang, a key figure of Monkey King: Hero is Back, is now based in Hangzhou. Hangzhou established animation company Zoland Animation participated in the production of Chinese Water Governance Stories. Hangzhou had a good harvest.
